Everyone expects everything right away. That is the nature of today's on-demand economy. So technology leaders need to adjust. They are now required to give operations teams, drivers, and customers the tech they need to manage, fulfill and view orders in real-time. To support the entire order lifecycle effectively, tech builders need to bring together the power of mobile apps, mapping technology, and cloud infrastructure.
HyperTrack accelerates the journey by partnering with AWS to provide critical location services on the most stable, reliable and flexible cloud infrastructure available globally. By using key Amazon services, HyperTrack is able to ensure that customers can reliably deliver their on-demand services - from food delivery to temporary event staff. So, which services are at play?
HyperTrack and AWS to Deliver Location-based Services
HyperTrack leverages the following services to provide a platform that helps companies build elegant solutions to the many nuanced use cases in the on-demand economy.
- Amazon Kinesis
- Amazon API Gateway
- Amazon DynamoDB
- Amazon Relational Database Service
- Amazon OpenSearch Service
- Amazon Location Service
HyperTrack gives teams the fastest path to building location-based solutions for worker mobile apps and operations dashboards. Specifically, HyperTrack’s APIs assist with live order tracking, dispatching orders to nearby drivers, assigning orders and routes, automating work at site visits, payments based on location, and providing visibility to operations teams.
APIs and SDKs to Build Location-based Solutions for On-demand Businesses
All of this functionality is delivered through APIs and SDKS that support planning and assigning orders; and tracking and validating work in the field. These APIs and SDKs are delivered from the AWS Cloud.
The above diagram is an example of how HyperTrack leverages the AWS Cloud to deliver location-based technology for various on-demand business models. In all implementations, customers depend on AWS infrastructure for core HyperTrack technology. For most implementations, customers also depend on AWS infrastructure to support mobile apps for delivery drivers and field technicians and real time dashboards for operations teams and field supervisors. These critical applications - mobile apps and operations dashboards - capture the health of the business and the efficiency of field operations at a granular level.
Importantly the Amazon Location Service is a fundamental component of many of these HyperTrack implementations. Amazon Location Service is a location-based service (LBS) that makes it easy for developers to add geospatial data and location functionality to applications. Without compromising data security and user privacy, teams are able to build apps that feature data visualizations on a map, recommended routes and other mapping functionality in a cost effective manner.
Building Location-based Technology on AWS for On-Demand Delivery
So what does this look like for a specific business in the on-demand space? On-demand businesses are solving for a host of challenges: improving fill rates, reducing no-shows, reducing payment disputes, improving the customer experience, providing real time data to supervisors, providing notifications to customers, and providing accurate ETA predictions. Businesses in the supply chain space are no different in this quest for improvement, to consider a specific example, let’s take a look at our customer, Magaloop.
Berlin-based Magaloop provides an app-based ordering platform that connects independent retailers such as convenience stores, bakeries, gas station stores, and late-night grocery stores directly with suppliers. In order to meet the on-demand expectations of customers, wholesalers and retailers using the Magaloop platform needed to digitize quickly. The key piece of this digitization was the need for visibility throughout the entire fulfillment process. In order for Magaloop to provide this visibility, they needed to build a last-mile solution that could be quickly adopted by wholesalers within the system.
AWS with HyperTrack APIs and SDKs to Build On-demand Delivery Solutions
The technical team at Magaloop identified HyperTrack as a partner to help accelerate their development roadmap. They were able to quickly build key functionality to track drivers with orders, give drivers routes and provide all of this information in real time dashboards for operations teams. They used the following APIs and SDKs from HyperTrack:
- Driver SDK to accurately track the location of the driver as they travel to deliveries
- On-time routes to assign work to specific agents based on a predetermined schedule
- Dashboard visualizations to display work happening in real-time
The HyperTrack solution deployed at Magaloop is built on AWS Cloud Infrastructure. The core solution components are deployed on the AWS cloud, leveraging the scalability, reliability and flexibility of AWS infrastructure.
“Definitely by the moment we started using HyperTrack and providing end-to-end order visibility, user retention has gone up”
Tobias Becker, Product Manager, Magaloop
By working with HyperTrack, their product team was able to build custom solutions without extensive development cycles. They were able to build while centering the outcomes of their business model, instead of conforming to the constraints of another SaaS platform. With the above solutions, Magaloop could deliver order visibility almost immediately. This is an example of how leverage AWS + HyperTrack can bring speed and efficiency to your product development roadmap. Especially if your business is grappling with bringing together mobile, maps and cloud to deliver critical location-based services.
