Consumers expect apps to access location while the app is in use in the foreground. Users have different expectations from work apps. Workforce apps stay in the background most of the time. Business uses high-frequency location for routing orders and order tracking.
We were encouraged when the developer community went nuts with the open-source Uber-for-X sample app built with HyperTrack in 2017. Since then, we’ve only seen more and more demand from ridesharing, gig economy and Uber-for-X apps using HyperTrack for live location.
We open-sourced a simple app that starts tracking upon granting location permissions. User can share live location through a short URL, sent through their favorite messaging app, to track live location.
